Liberty Francis completed her research on the King Penguin today. She created a life sized penguin as shown, as well as online research on the habitat, body parts and diet. I asked her what facts she found the most interesting and she said, "There are 17 penguin species. Their back is always straight, whatever they do. Their neck is the colour of a sunset." Excellent work Libby!
It sounds like everyone had a great March Break. Grade Two was eager to get back into the swing of things this morning! During the upcoming months I will be sending home plenty of reading comprehension exercises. These are very important for your child to practice in perparation for the provinical reading exam to be written in June. Happy reading!
We had a great first day of Winter Carnival! We rotated through four fun stations this morning which included storytelling, dancing and learning about canoes. Remember that it is crazy hat day tomorrow! There will be no homework this week but as always, I encourage my students to read aloud to family members. Wednesday is PJ day and we will be enjoying breakfast together in the classoom so bring your appetites! Don't forget your skates and helmets on Thursday as we will be heading over to Willie O'Ree for a skating party! I can't wait to see all the crazy hair do's on Friday's Crazy Hair Day. Hope to see you Friday at 12:45 at February's Recognition Awards!
Brooklyn Paul and Liberty Francis wore regalia to kick off Winter Carnival week which began with a Cultural station day.
We love working with Poetry! It helps us read fluently, expand vocabulary and develop an enthusiasm for reading.
Don't forget that we are having a pancake breakfast first thing tomorrow morning to kick off Valentine's Day!
