Today we painted rocks in Art class. We plan on hiding them on the school grounds for others to find. If you come across one of our rocks it will say "CHSMES ROCKS" on it. You can keep the rock or hide it again. You may find ghosts, pumpkins, Frankenstein, candy corn or skeletons painted on them. Happy hunting and please feel free to paint and hide your own "CHSMES ROCK." Just think of all the wonderful ideas for writing we will have during this adventure!
It was a pumpkin pie kind of day in Grade Two. We made and tasted our own pumpkin pie, wrote sensory poems about the experience and did a pie craft. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
From nature walks to medicine picking, geo cache adventures, fishing and beach play, I'd say we had plenty of fun learning experiences at Killarney Lake.
We had a great time celebrating the second week of Grade Two today at the Splash Pad. My students are definitely showing how they are "COOL IN SCHOOL!" Keep up the great work everyone!
I've been waiting so long to see these smiling faces!
Students from K-5 enjoyed presentations from Science East this month. Grades K-2 explored "Our Senses" with many hands on activities. Grades 3-5 extended their learning with "Sound," "Weather" and "Invisible Forces" demonstrations that align with our current Science Units.
Here are some fun activities we've done this week while learning about contractions. We performed "Word Surgery" complete with rubber gloves, scissors and band aids. We took two words and made them into the shorter word by replacing a letter/letters with "band aid" apostrophes! We also made candy corn contractions!
Laurissa received an award today from St. Mary's Health Center for showing enthusiasm and interest during our brushing program at CHSMES! Way to go!
We had a great day for our Terry Fox walk. We've been donating our toonies for cancer research in Terry's name and celebrating his legacy and dream for a cure.
