Here is a fun game that students have enjoyed playing on the Smartboard during math centre time that helps with learning their addition facts.

Click on the link above to take you there!

Most Grade One students have mastered their zero facts! One facts seem to be more of a challenge. Here is a song to help students memorize their facts.

Enjoy!

It is VERY difficult to select a few students to recognize each month for their hard work and progress because there are many Grade One students that are so deserving! Here are the lucky recipients of January's Recognition Awards!

Xavier - Class Spirit Award and Maliseet Languge Award

Joshua - Literacy Award

Justine - Physical Education Award

Keep up the great work Grade One!

One of the outcomes Grade One is going to revisit this month is subitizing dots on a ten frame. Students will be flashed a ten frame and they must be able to say how many dots were on the card without any hestitation. That means students are NOT ALLOWED to count the dots. Here is a little video that students can watch to help them at home with this task.

Enjoy!

Students have been working hard to learn how to count to 100. These students have made Grade One's 100 Club by taking the challenge and succeeding! Students who have not yet made the club have the opportunity to do so everyday. Practice, practice, practice!

Next challenge... counting BACKWARDS from 100!

Students in grades K-2 absolutely LOVED going to the library! You should consider taking a trip over the winter break to visit the children's section!

Winter break has come a day early! I just wanted to congratulate all students on a fabulous performance yesterday! I am very proud of you. Have a wonderful holiday. I hope that Santa finds you!

From: Ms. Muise :)

P.S. Don't forget to practice your sight words and READ, READ, READ over the holidays!

P.S.S. I can't wait to see you all in the new year!

Grade One enjoyed learning a bit about procedural writing by making goo! First, we read a recipe and made some goo. Then students wrote the steps out from memory. Finally, they all got to play!

Just a quick reminder that Grade One will be skating tomorrow (Friday, November 28th) at 10:00 rather than our regular 10:30 start time.

Woliwon!
