Several times a year our students complete the DIBELs assessment of their reading abilities. To help parents and guardians understand this assessment and how you can help, here is a sample of some of the activities we complete with the students. Woliwon!

Welcome back! We have swung right back into our regular routines in grade 3, but we’ve also had a lot of fun this week! Our students are becoming computer experts - some of them have started an after school coding club with Mr. Morrison, and our whole class is taking part in the CyberLaunch Academy program each Thursday afternoon for the next 5 weeks! This Thursday we learned about the different parts inside of a computer and used tools to take them apart. It was so much fun! Congratulations to Terryn and Abigail who both aced their Friday Reviews this week - way to go, girls! Mathew won our prize box draw today. He was entered in the draw because he remembered to bring back his completed homework today. Enjoy the fuzzy pencils, Mathew!

This school week ended on a fun day - Nifty 50 day! We had fun learning activities going on all day, including Math Man on the SMARTBoard (a great online Math game: and base ten BINGO. The students also completed their weekly spelling tests. We had 9 star spellers get 7/7 on their tests: Terryn, Lily, Caden, Kohen, Isabella, Andrew, Koben, Will, and Abigail. Kohen’s name was chosen from our prize box draw, and he chose a super cool red mechanical pencil. Great job everyone and keep up the spelling practice at home!

Today we learned about the artist Georges Seurat. He famously used pointillism, a painting technique using hundreds of small dots instead of brush strokes. We had just done a Social Studies lesson on vegetation in New Brunswick, so the students painted leaves and other plants. Some of the paintings are not quite finished yet, but they are all looking great!

Two weeks ago our class went skating for the first time this season. We are going again this week, so please make sure the students are prepared! Skates, helmets, warm clothes. Let’s make sure the kids are ready to have fun!

We had a fantastic day today in grade 3! The kids loved the parade, our classroom party, and the lunchtime video dance party. Stay safe tonight and have a happy Halloween!

We had a great time at our awards ceremony last week. The cross country team was recognized for all their hard work this season, Isabella won the monthly Maliseet award, and Kohen and Will won our classroom awards. Terryn won the prize box draw. Woliwon and wolamsotas!

Today our class started recess a little bit early to enjoy some frozen yogurt and fruit to celebrate Terryn's great run this past Sunday at provincials. Yum!

In case you didn't know, we have a celebrity in grade 3! Ms. Terryn Bear, district champion, participated in the provincial cross country championships this Sunday...and got second place! She also qualified for the Atlantic championships next month. Way to go, Terryn! Now THAT shows how to Wolamsotas!
